Hello San Francisco friends and Los Angeles folks (who can hopefully
come up for a great week of activities),

NextAid is involved in both *LoveFest (Sept 23) and Summer Music
Conference (Sept 27-29*) just around the corner! So….we are getting our
awesome volunteer crews together and hope you can be a play a part at
either or both events. Please forward to your friendly and committed
friends.

For *LoveFest *(aka Love Parade)* (Sept 23) *NextAid will earn a min. of
$15 per volunteer hour (maybe $25) working one of the gates. Our role is
to collect donations while educating people that LF is a non-profit
event and a % of whatever they donate will go to the community partners,
including us! The more they donate, the more can be given away. *The
shifts are 12:30-3:30p (check-in at 11:30am) OR 3-6pm (check-in 2pm)*

*We will also have a booth in Civic Center Plaza that we need to staff.*

And for* Summer Music Conference* (www.summermusicconference.net
<http://www.summermusicconference.net/>), we are 1 of 3 official
non-profit partners, earning $2 on every pass sold. We will also have a
*table to sell merchandise at the Technology EXPO*/. /Our commitment to
SMC is to promote pass sales and provide 10 volunteers on *Thursday
(28^th ) and Friday (29^th ) for 4 hour shifts 10:30-2:30 or 2:30-6:30*,
we will be helping at check-in, setting up for panels, greeting and
directing people, etc. More here about NextAid’s relationship with SMC

Please let me know your availability, /we really need people to do both
days,/ and we *need people at the Expo booth. *You will get the *SMC All
Access Pass* which provides entry into all conference panels &
presentations, Technology Expo, the InGrooves A&R Contest, 6 Months FREE
subscription to Remix Magazine, discounts to all SMC Events
www.nitevibe.com/smc <http://www.nitevibe.com/smc> and Backstage Pass
for the SMC Festival on Saturday September 30th, 2006....FREE drinks
from 1pm to 6pm ONLY with your SMC All Access Pass.

We are also presenting an awesome *panel session on Thursday the 28^th
at 4:30pm *called “*music as a tool for building social activism.” *
Panelists include Darian Heyman (Exec Dir. of Craigslist Foundation),
Brad Olsen (peacetour.org), Michael Gosney (Green Century Institute,
Digital Be-Ins), Jennifer Otter (Music for America), Lauren Segal
(NextAid), and Tania Martinez as moderator (Current TV).//

Lastly, we are going to approach the SMC party promoters about putting a
cool, branded donation box for NextAid at their events or even make
their party a benefit for NextAid, committing to at least $1 a head,
this way we can truly maximize our fundraising potential. If you have
friends throwing parties, please see if they are open to this. Thank you
so much!

Please forward to your interested world-changers, mover ’n’ shaker
friends, we need a total of about 30-40 people to comfortably cover all
the shifts, depending on how many hours each person works of course.

For your friends who might not be familiar with NextAid, please let them
know that their help will truly make a difference, here at home and
across the world for the kids in Dennilton South Africa. NextAid, with
the incredible support of volunteers like you, is responding to the
greatest humanitarian crisis of our time, the loss of an entire
generation of parents. Millions of children are being orphaned by AIDS,
growing up incredibly vulnerable, having to fend for themselves, or
becoming the burden of grannies who cannot afford to take care of their
grandchildren. It’s an emergency and we all need to do more, a lot more!
But we can have fun doing it. NextAid has found a positive way make a
sustainable difference. Check out the site and see how we are building a
village of hope with the power of love generated on the dance floor!
