[cf-announce] BSP: Reminder for Beach Party/Cleanup on Sunday

Hey Folks, 



A quick reminder about our Sunday event. The weather looks like it is going to be amazing! Come down to Ocean Beach and join up with Burners without Borders, The Surfrider Foundation and us (The Ocean Beach foundation) as we help keep the beach clean, connect around the bonfire and dance to the sweet grooves of:



Donna Matrix (rEvolution, Panda Rejects) 

Alxndr(Downlow)

DJ Goyo (Uptempo Productions)



A year ago, due to trash, misuse, and lack of funding from the Bush administration, the parks department, in desperation, decided they would have to ban bonfires on Ocean Beach. Thanks to the groups listed above, and in large part to the Burning Man community, we let our voices be heard and came up with A SOLUTION to the problem. Fire rings! The plan has been approved-- you can see the designs for the rings here: http://www.oceanbeachfoundation.org/ and now we're working to raise money, awareness and education about a sustainable Ocean Beach.



Please come out for a gorgeous beach day and help keep OB beautiful.

When: Sunday March 4th, 2:00-7:30 pm

What: Beach Cleanup, bonfire + a groovin' afterparty
Where: Ocean Beach, stairway 20
Why: Ocean Beach needs our help! Irresponsible burning and littering leave OB covered in litter. You and your friends can help by lending a few hours of your time for a good cause.
Who: All are welcome. Make new friends, clean up the beach. Invite your friends to join us! Bring drums, and goodies to eat/drink

Schedule

2:00 Meet at stairway 20, just down from the sand dunes at Lincoln Ave. and Great Highway
     - A member of our team will provide you with garbage bags and gloves (we'll have a table set up)
4:30 Cleanup complete, DJ's start spinning records
4:30 4:30-7:30 Par-tay (Alxndr, Goyo and Donna Matrix!)
6:00 Sunset 

7:30 Party winds down-- everybody lends a hand to clean up

 

Bonfire-DJ's-drumming-marshmallows-good peeps...a beach party on a beautiful sunny day!

 

 * Bring warmish clothing for daylight and afterdaylight. Bring your own food and refreshments to keep hydrated. Bring hot dogs or marshmallows and a coat hanger to use to roast them! We'll also be taking donations for the Ocean Beach Foundation which is working to build fire rings at Ocean Beach to ensure responsible burning.

 

Note: it is the Ocean Beach policy not to have alcoholic beverages on the beach.
