The Next Chapter
The San Francisco Dance Music Community Together Again
FOR THE FUTURE
May 13th at Café Cocomo

Please join the San Francisco House Music Community in its fourth

FUTURE is bringing together an incredible group of 18+ dj’s and over
6 media & promotional sponsors in a 14-hour event, to share the

children’s residence and community center project in a poverty and
AIDS stricken town in South Africa. The “mega-benefit” will take on
Sunday, May 13th at Café Cocomo, 650 Indiana Street in San Francisco

Station, and produced by NextAid, Paul Guido and Adnan Sharif.

Fil Latorre, Galen, Garth, Jeffrey Allen, Lance De Sardi, Metrognome,
Michele Bass, Monty Luke, Paul Guido, Rick Preston, Seven, Solar, and
Tasho.

The background: Four and a half years ago, a core group of friends
brought 30 artists together to raise funds for a treasured member of
the community, Wert Terry, who was tragically lost to cancer. The
historic event was called For the Love. No one would ever forget
this moving day. In his memory, NextAid and Scott Manning (SFbyDef)
brought the San Francisco House Music community came together again
in 2004 for the kids. NextAid built a performance space in Wert’s
memory from funds raised at the three For the Kids events.

Now in its third year, the event is making an even greater impact on
the community it’s supporting in South Africa. This event is called
For the Future and is growing in diversity, musically, and
demographically. This event will be “green” with recycling,
encouragement of carpooling, and the purchasing of carbon credits to
offset the energy utilized to produce the event. Proceeds will
continue to go towards NextAid’s Pilot project: an ecological
children’s center in South Africa that will serve as a safe home for
50 children orphaned by AIDS, a multi-purpose center for the greater
community, and a model for future projects throughout Africa. Working
with a renowned ecological architect and experienced natural
builders, NextAid broke ground in July 2005 with an earth-bag
building workshop, kicking off the construction of the Dennilton
center for Youth with a Vision (YWAV). Now 5 buildings and supporting
structures are completed on site including the “Wert Terry Music and
Performance Center,” outdoor energy-efficient kitchen and seating
area, 2 earth-bag offices, composting toilets, and a straw bale
children’s house.

One main sponsor of this event is Whet Travel, committed to NextAid
as its official charity of choice. On the Groove Cruise, July 20 to
23, departing LA and cruising to Ensenada with Bad Boy Bill, Donald
Glaude, Scooter and Lavelle, Scotty Boy, D:Fuse, and more! Go to
www.WhetTravel.com, click on the Groove Cruise and save $50 per
person when you mention NextAid and NextAid receives a matching
donation, or call 877-GET-WHET (877-438-9438)
